- Abstract
- In type 1 diabetes,specific human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles confer susceptibility and are thought to present autoantigens to T cells that destroy pancreatic beta cells. Here, Margo C. Honeyman uses ct combination of experimental and computer modeling methods to predict peptides that will bind particular HLA alleles and elicit T-cell responses. This may be used to define T-cell epitopes in other diseases.
