Abstract
The multiple actions of colony-stimulating factors (CSF) on responsive haemopoietic cells must be mediated initially through the molecular recognition of a CSf by its specific cellular receptor and then by the transduction of the recognition even into intracellular molecular interactions leading to biological responses. Although early studies of growth factor/receptor interactions considered these as static events occurring under equilibrium conditions it has become clear more recently that cells dynamically regulate their receptor levels and affinities at biological temperatures. Here, the recently determined molecular structures of CSF receptors and their dynamic regulation will be discussed.
