Abstract
The immunopathogenesis of multiple sclerosis appears to be dependent on the interaction between major histocompatibility complex molecules, T-cell receptors, and peptide antigens. The mechanisms regulating this 'tripartite' system and their relevance to immune-mediated experimental and human demyelination and potential treatment strategies are reviewed.
